Your first step is to select a real estate agent.
This is usually someone you know or who has been recommended to you.

In any case, seek out the same qualities that you would look for in a friend, and you should find one that can help you with one of life's biggest investments.

Your real estate agent should discuss the Agency Relationship with you, to be sure you fully understand all aspects of the process.

An agent will come to look at your house and probably make suggestions on how to make it show better. Usually little things that can often go unnoticed. There are a few common examples in "Selling Tips".

The agent measures all your rooms and writes up a description of your house. 

Working together, you & your agent will be able to determine the most favorable asking "or list" price for your property.

Then it's time for you sign a listing agreement and an MLS agreement. 

Your agent puts a sign on your lawn and receives a set of house keys.
